Founder & CEO
Paul is an innovator with a plan. A clever plan..... To build some exciting web apps that make the world that little bit better.
He graduated from NUI Galway in 2005 with a B.E. in Electronic and Computer Engineering. After that he went on to study dance and theatre performance at Bird College in London. It was at this time the fusion between the logical and the creative happened - Starlight was born.
These days, Paul is at his happiest when constructing multi-user web environments, realising his vision for improving the web and pioneering intelligent web applications. He has a keen interest in development of mobile web and the science behind social software. "The web is not about technology, it is about people and their desire to communicate. The web is our vocabulary."
Head of Customer Development
Dermot and the web go back a long way - back to the early 90’s when he co-founded the web development agency Interact. After the sale of the organisation in 2002, he spent a number of years working in international humanitarian development.
Recently returned to the web, the challenge is the same as it always was - to build solutions that solve real-life problems. The key to this? Working with a team of curious folk who never settle for second-best.
Director of Graphics & Animation
Tom is constantly inspired by new trends and fashions. He has a creative and relentless energy that pushes boundaries and shapes his perspective on life. During his 10 years of life experience in print and 3D design, Tom has come to deeply understand his industry, acquired talents in a number of design forms and has inherited vision to see what people need to see.
His minimalistic design style maximises brand effectiveness. At the same time usability and positive user experience are fundamentally entwined in his exceptional design concepts.
He is currently exploring character and fluid animation while continuing to lead the design team in their quest to create an inspiring and visual web. Look out - there he goes again!
Web App Developer & Server Administrator
John is intrigued by the web, its evolution and its future direction. After a college life that spanned five years at NUI Galway, he graduated with a Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering and a Higher Diploma in Software Design and Development. Shortly after, he was adopted into the Starlight family as a Web Application Developer & Server Administrator.
He likes to explore and research new web technologies so that he may contribute to improving the web as we know it. He participates in a strong team work ethic here and draws on the experience, creativeness and inventive thinking of his teammates to produce applications of the highest standards.
Challenged by the problems faced with developing complex web apps and managing multiple web servers, John enjoys putting his logic and problem solving abilities to the test. "There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary, and those that don't!"
Dario Javier Cravero
Dario loves what he does. He is an Argentinean-yoga-nature-and-web-lover who puts all of his efforts into making this a better world. He loves to travel, play the guitar and make computers do great things!..
When it comes to the web, as a true open source believer, he'll share and try to plug together everything he finds on the way!.. He'd just found a great family at Starlight and is gradually converting them to the bright-side-of-the-moon guarded by Padrino and the Ruby folks ;)
Simplicity is his key to problem solving. After all, "systems are nothing without people", he says...
Web Application developer
Gerard started writing software in college and hasn't looked back since. He joined Starlight after completing his research masters in DERI, Galway as part of the social software group. Since joining, he's grown more attached to the concepts behind grassroots, simple applications with smart backends.
